• The Modules must be connected before KurtSPC is started - try closing KurtSPC and restarting.
• Verify that the Kurt-USB module drivers are loaded. For Windows 98, go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controller and verify a listing for ?KurtUSB Device? for each connected module.
• Verify proper channel setup in KurtSPC. Please refer Kurt-SPC documentation.
• Module(s) may be damaged or defective - check and replace if necessary.

• Electrostatic discharges may cause intermittent operation of KurtUSB modules. Check for proper grounding of system and work area.
• Module(s) may be damaged or defective - check and replace if necessary.

• Electrostatic discharges may cause intermittent operation of KurtUSB modules. Check for proper grounding of system and work area.
• Module(s) may be damaged or defective - check and replace if necessary.

• Check calibration configuration in KurtSPC. A Low gain setting may cause a low resolution level and account for unstable readings in desired measurement range.
• Check probe cables for proper connection and grounding.
• Probe may be defective - repair or replacement may be necessary.
• Module(s) may be damaged or defective - repair or replacement may be necessary.

• Contact Kurt Technical Support at 250-2391365 for information on changing KurtUSB LVDT configuration.

• Some external devices such as multi-port adapters with LED indicators will hold inputs on. These LED's trigger sinking inputs when sourcing devices are used (or visa-versa). Remove these types of devices from the circuit or contact Kurt Technical Support for information on disabling auto source/sink detect feature.

• This error happens occasionally when the computer is powered down without properly shutting down Windows. It may be caused by a power interruption, a spike or someone switching off the system while it is in operation. When this happens the license file may become corrupt and not allow the KurtSPC software to run. To avoid this from occurring, it is recommended to use a Universal Power Supply (UPS) and shut down the KurtSPC software and then the operating system, before turning off the computer.

• Search your hard drive (using the Windows search utility) for the file "kurtspc*.lic".
• Change the name of this file from kurtspc*.lic to kurtspc*.li_.
• Backup your database for KurtSPC.
• Un-Install the KurtSPC software from the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel.
• Re-Install the KurtSPC software.
• Run KurtSPC and test.

• The current database location can be found in the Kurt-SPC Help menu under "About KurtSPC...". Choose the database tab. The name of the database file, and directory path, are listed.

• This error means the KurtSPC software could not find the database. The database the software was using may have been moved or renamed. To fix this, click OK. Then click "Database..." and select the database that you would like to connect to.

It is likely that the ODBC configuration is not correct. Go to the Control Panel and select "Administrative Tools". Choose "Data Sources (ODBC)" from the list.

If you are using Access as your database format, follow these steps:

• If a "Kurt" entry does not exist, create it. Otherwise, select the "Kurt" entry.
• If you needed to create a new entry, select the Access driver as your driver type and click OK.
• Select the database you would like to use for Kurt-SPC.
• If you are editing an existing entry you will need to click the "Select.." button to do this.
• Also, "Repair and "Compress" on this screen can help increase the speed of your database.
• Save your changes and then run KurtSPC again.

If you are using SQL, follow these steps:

• If a "KurtSQL" entry does not exist, create it. Otherwise, select the "KurtSQL" entry.
• If you needed to create a new entry, select the Microsoft SQL driver as your driver type and click OK.
• Enter Server Name, login/password, and then Select the database you would like to use as your Kurt database. If you are editing an existing entry you will need to press the "Select..." button to do this.
• Save your changes and then run KurtSPC again.
